Putting Ikea Furniture Together
Another weekend of shopping brings you to the giant superstore known as Ikea. Great prices, room designs for inspiration and, of course, a stop in the café for coffee. For Moms and Dads there is also the luxury of dropping your kiddos off at the play center so you can shop in peace. I think some parents do this daily, but who am I to judge? Get a break from the kids and some much needed exercise walking all around this huge store…Why not? Most come for the bargains.
If you can figure out how to find what you are looking for in the vast warehouse then you are smarter than most. Put it on your cart and roll it to check out. Make any small purchases? Don’t forget to bring your own bag or you will be juggling them all while pushing your cart to the car. Get it all loaded and bask in the achievement on your drive home. You purchased a book shelf, a dresser, and an entertainment stand for almost next to nothing. It’s going to look so good, right?
Arrive at home. Carry it all inside and start opening boxes. You’re thinking, it can’t be that hard to put together right? Hours later you finish your first piece with several screws left over and a huge mess in the middle of the living room floor. You decide that you will leave this mess and finish tomorrow, because you’re mentally exhausted.
Morning dawns and after you find your screwdriver in the crack of the couch you begin to assemble your furniture. After dinner that night, you sit on the couch and realize your television is sitting slightly crooked, but you just smile and relax. You will fix that another day. No, your room doesn’t look as neatly put together as the store version, but you did save a lot of money. That’s a job well done!
