Dietitian Reveals Major Reason You Should Grocery Shop Online
I didn’t shop online for groceries until the pandemic began. Grocery shopping isn’t a chore I hate, so I’ve never minded going. I’m one of those people that always shops with a list and rarely impulse buys. Notice I didn’t say never, but rarely. There have been times I’ve seen something yummy in the store and even though I know I don’t need it, I buy it. But usually, if it’s not on the list, I don’t buy it.
Leading nutritionist Susie Burrell has revealed why everyone should do their grocery shopping online – and it could save you hundreds before the end of the year. She believes you are less likely to impulse buy and splurge on things you don’t really need if you shop online instead of in-store. I totally agree with this!
Yes, you usually have to pay more some things when shopping online or pay a service fee. Although it does stop you from seeing things and snatching them up. We all know grocery stores have displays to entice you. When you shop online, you aren’t seeing those types of displays.
Online shopping forces you to plan ahead, making you more inclined to stick to your budget. When you online shop you need a plan. I will say that online shopping has made me meal plan a bit more and I don’t find myself overbuying. I stick to my list of things I need for particular recipes.
For whatever reason, if I go to the grocery store on my way home from work, I buy more junk food or food I don’t need. My guess is that I’m going when I’m a little hungry and that’s never smart. When I online shop it’s usually from Harris Teeter or Publix. Not all grocery stores use Instacart or offer online shopping.
The only downside to online shopping is that some shoppers aren’t as picky as I am when it comes to produce and I have had one or two instances where the shopper forgot one of my items. Overall though, my experience has been positive when online shopping. And I definitely think it helps me save money.
