Moment With Mel: A Facial And An Interesting Conversation
I endorse Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa and went out to the Matthews location earlier in the week. I did a Facebook Live for them and they were nice enough to let me relax a bit and have a facial. Oddly enough, the facial, as amazing as it was, was secondary to the conversation with Erin.
Erin is the head aesthetician at the Matthews location and was nice enough to come in on her day off. I’m unfamiliar with the most popular services, so I asked Erin to appear in the Facebook Live with me. She was a bit hesitant, which is normal. I am used to acting goofy all the time on video. Some folks are nervous and that makes sense to me.
Before I did the live video, I made sure that Erin knew what I was going to ask her. When I do a Facebook Live it’s always off the cuff. I don’t have a script I follow. But since Erin was nervous, I didn’t want to put her on the spot, so I made sure she knew they types of questions I was going to ask. She did an amazing job and I didn’t doubt that she would. She’s smart and knows her stuff.
After the video was done, Erin did a Microdermabrasion Facial on me and made my face feel great! I know that when you get a facial or massage you’re supposed to relax, but I’m a talker. While Erin was talking care of me, we had a great conversation. Erin gave me some other personal details about her life that opened my eyes to how strong of a person she is. I found out that she’s a working mom that definitely has her hands full at home. That made me appreciate her time even more since she came in on her day off. Erin truly loves what she does and her attitude was refreshing! She gets excited about products and people in her industry, and it’s been a while since I’ve met someone like that.
As we were chatting, I let her know how great of a job she did on the video. In addition, I let her know that she shouldn’t be nervous when doing social media stuff. On the Facebook Live video she was knowledgeable and relaxed. We chatted throughout the facial, and after I thanked her and let her know that she’s awesome at her job.
Before I left, Erin thanked me for making her feel comfortable and told me that I was great at my job. On my drive home I thought about how cool it was that in just a short time, we both made each other feel good. I realized that you never know when you’ll have the opportunity to make someone smile. Erin and I both complimented each other professionally and as women, we should do that more.
I left feeling good about what I do for a living and hopefully I gave Erin some confidence. You never know when you can boost someone’s spirits. It takes little time and it’s important to do. Especially right now since lots of us are interacting with others less.
I just wanted to share as the facial, and the interaction with Erin made my week! FYI, Mother’s Day is Sunday so check out HandandStone.com for some gift ideas. And be nice! You never know when it will make someone’s day.
