Why You Might Be ‘Revenge Spending’ And How To Stop
I had no idea what ‘Revenge Spending’ was until I read this article and it wasn’t what I thought it would be.
If you’re afraid to look at your credit card statement because of the extra shopping you’ve been doing, you’re not alone. We have all missed a lot in the past 18 months due to COVID. Apparently, people are trying to make up for it by shopping silly! Budgets are gone and some people are spending like there’s no tomorrow.
Now, I haven’t been spending crazy money, cause I don’t have it, but I’ve definitely shopped more over the last year or so. If you’ve been doing the same, experts are calling it ‘revenge spending.’
Apparently, it’s the perfect mix of FOMO (fear of missing out) and wanting to treat ourselves. Nothing wrong with treating yourself! But if you think you’ve been spending too much on random things, here are some tips to avoid overspending:
** Wait three weeks before going ahead with big purchases.
** Pay attention to smaller purchases. They add up.
** Compare 2018 and 2019 spending to 2021 to see if you’ve actually been spending more.
** Pay attention to your subscriptions (my downfall)
