Novant Fired Over 100 Employees For Not Getting COVID Vaccine
Novant Health employees who refused to comply with the COVID-19 vaccine policy have been fired. Last week Novant announced that there were 375 workers that were non-compliant with the company’s vaccine mandate. Those individuals were suspended and given 5 days to receive the first dose of the vaccine. Today, Monday, September 27th it was announced that 100 employees have been fired for not receiving the dose. Those who did choose to get the first dose have until Oct. 15th to receive the second if they elected to get Pfizer or Moderna.
Some workers were allowed a religious or medical exemption, though the exact number is unknown. Those individuals will have to be tested weekly and wear N95 masks while at work. Novant is not the only health care system in the area requiring the vaccine. Atrium as well as other providers have similar mandates.
“Last week we shared around 375 were suspended, and of those, nearly 200 have since come into compliance, so the estimate would be fewer than 200 were non-compliant after the suspension period,” Novant Health said in a statement as reported by WCNC.
Do you agree that Novant should have fired these employees for not taking the vaccine?
