Britney Spears’ Father Files For Immediate End to Conservatorship
Britney Spears is celebrating the freedom from her conservatorship with her father requesting its immediate termination, all while she declares cutting off ties with her family. She shred her feelings about her father in an incendiary social media post, which she deleted, but which was preserved via screenshot. She blamed her mother, not her father, for her conservatorship, saying, “my dad is not smart enough to ever think of a conservatorship.”
Let’s rewind a bit: per The Guardian, a lawyer for Jamie Spears stated in new court documents: “Britney’s recent testimony and requests to take personal control of her estate and affairs have made clear that continuing the conservatorship is contrary to her desires… Jamie sees no reason why the conservatorship should continue for any amount of time and asserts he has no interest in the conservatorship continuing.”
Jamie Spears’s latest application comes as he has hired new legal representation. His former lawyer, Vivian Thoreen, stepped aside in October. His new attorney, Alex Weingarten, stated that Jamie’s request was unconditional – not subject to “a demand for releases or compensation” – and that he had “nothing to hide regarding his administration of Britney’s estate”.
The filing stated: “Jamie believes that every aspect of the conservatorship should be made available for public examination – not the targeted leaks and misinformation that have resulted in such tabloid fodder.”
The next hearing in Spears’s case is on November 9 and will determine the future of her conservatorship. Last month, Spears said she was “very happy” that the end was almost here, but admitted she was “scared to do anything because I’m afraid I’ll make a mistake.”
Britney has not responded directly to her father’s latest application. In a now-deleted Instagram post, she wrote:
“The moment I SMILE and I realize I haven’t in a very long time !!!! My mom gets so CONCERNED and says ‘You’re acting weird … what’s wrong with you ???” I say ‘Hi, my name is Britney Spears … nice to finally meet you !!!’ Before I go any further, forgive me in advance …. it’s been 13 years and I’m a little rusty !!!! Per gossip website TMZ, Lynne Spears was the one who actually engineered the temporary conservatorship after Britney’s second 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold. Spears also called out former business manager, Lou Taylor, whom many on the inside say was the one pulling the strings.
