Mask Mandate Returns Wednesday For Cabarrus County Schools
The Cabarrus Board of Education voted yesterday to reinstate the mask mandate for Cabarrus County Schools. The rule will go into effect beginning Wednesday, Jan. 13, and lasts until at least Jan. 24 which is when the board is next scheduled to meet.
Masks will not be required for athletics, extracurricular activities, art performances, and self-contained rooms. Cabarrus County Schools has been mask-optional as part of a metric system. As long as three of four metrics were in the green or yellow category students at the school did not need to wear masks.
The revised decision on the mask mandate for Cabarrus County Schools comes as COVID-19 is surging in the Carolinas and the rest of the country.
