People Are Happy When Plans Are Canceled & I’m Glad I’m Not Alone
Since the pandemic started, I have been anti-social. It’s not that I don’t want to go out and see people, it’s that with my immune system I have to be careful. I’ll be honest though, medical issues aside, as I get older the more I like staying home. I thought it was just me but it’s not!
According to a new survey of Americans 21 and older, 75% of people say the best weekend is one with no plans. 71% say they hope their plans get canceled so they can stay in. WHEW! I thought I was the only one. Lately I started thinking that I may have problems due to wanting to say home lots. This survey makes me feel so much better! Now I know I’m not alone.
When you’re younger, going out is fun! You enjoy people, loud places, and crowds. As you get older, you don’t enjoy the experience as much. In my 20’s, I went out all the time. Weeknights, weekends, it didn’t matter. Part of the reason I went out so much was the fear of missing something.
As you age, you realize you aren’t missing out on anything. The going out experience isn’t as attractive as it once was. At least that’s my take. When I was younger, I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss out on a good time, and I wanted to be seen. Now, I know I’m not missing anything and don’t care about being seen. LOL!
This survey says that the perfect weekend for most folks includes taking a walk, sleeping in, and binge-watching TV. I agree! According to SWNS, most people truly enjoy just being at home.
If you’re like me and seem to be more comfortable at home, you aren’t alone! I really thought that I was somewhat abnormal (and I may be) but staying in isn’t the reason why. Canceled plans make us happy and it’s good to know there are lots of us.
