CATS Looking For Artists To Help Design New Light Rail Station
If you or someone you know is an artist, here’s a shot for them to showcase their talent! The city of Charlotte and the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) are looking for professional artists to help design the new light rail station coming to South End.
According to WCNC, the new light rail stop will be between the East/West and New Bern stations. South End has definitely grown in the last few years. The radio station is in South End and I see all the new construction driving into work.
CATS announced in a news release that there are multiple art opportunities in regard to the new station. The main challenge is for an artist to provide progressive, eye-catching design elements that will help riders access the station from pedestrian walkways.
Artists will work collaboratively with CATS to incorporate their designs into construction bid documents. CATS will select one artist or team to incorporate art into the new South End station. The budget is $125,000 and is all-inclusive.
Applications will be accepted through Jan. 20. If you’re an artist or know someone that is, the application information is here.
