Family Getting Slammed Online For Sharing Their Disneyland Hack
I think a lot of us can relate to this issue: you’re a kid at an amusement park and you aren’t tall enough to go on a ride. I remember being a kid at Carowinds, wanting to go on a ride but I didn’t meet the height requirement. Considering I’m only 5’3, I barely make the height requirement as an adult! LOL! Some parents are catching a lot of heat online for the ‘height hack’ they use so their kid can go on rides at Disneyland.
According to the New York Post, the Kelly family posts regularly about their family life on TikTok. Put one of their videos is causing folks to be upset. In the video, the father describes his young son, Kannon, as a ‘thrill-seeking boy”. The dad says his son loves Disney theme park rides. Unfortunately, Kannon isn’t tall enough to ride the ‘big rides’. So, his parents decided to come up with some special shoes so that Kannon would be taller.
In the TikTok video, the parents show themselves making special shoes for their son. Using flip flop bottoms and a ‘towering heel’, the shoes increase their son’s height. These things look like kid platform shoes! The dad says they’re the ‘ultimate theme park hack’ but lots of folks online aren’t on board with the shoes.
Lots of people on TikTok pointed out to the parents that this isn’t safe for their son. There’s a reason there are height requirements at theme parks, and folks are saying they’re putting their child in harm’s way. Some folks that have worked at them parks commented too.
One user, who claimed to work at one of the Disney theme parks says, “This is why we’re trained to look at shoes to see if they are tampered with”. Another said, “I used to work at Disney on Primeval Whirl which had one of the highest height restrictions and yeah there for a reason and for safety.”
Once the parents received harsh comments, the dad posted another video saying they wouldn’t put their son in danger and have actually never used the shoes. Not so sure about that. I don’t know how old the kid is, but he looks like he’s three or four years old. Too young and too small for big rides.
What do you think? Would you approve shoes like these so your kid could go on big rides at theme parks? I dunno how the kid walks in these…they look like KISS band shoes!
