Charlotte Checkers Hosting 90’s Night This Weekend
If you are up for flashing back, the Charlotte Checkers have you covered! This Saturday night the team is taking it back to the 90’s and you can enjoy all kinds of stuff, and help local animals.
According to WCCB, you’ll be able to enjoy hockey along with old school tunes and some retro clothing. ‘Gump Fiction’, a 90’s cover band, will be playing before the game in front of the Bojangles Coliseum’s entrance around 5 p.m. If you can’t get to the game early, you can check out the band after the game at the Red Line Club at the coliseum.
Since I’m such a music fan, I checked out the band’s website to see their playlist. They definitely play a mix of all kinds of 90’s tunes! Everything from the Backstreet Boys to Jane’s Addiction.
Years ago, in the late 90’s, I had a Checkers jersey. The radio station I worked for here in Charlotte used to go out to the games. The team is hooking us up with retro gear. They have 90’s-themed merchandise that you can buy, while supplies last.
And the team will be wearing old school jerseys when they play on Saturday night. The jerseys will be available in an online auction on game day, and part of the proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of York County. I love this! SO many animals need forever homes right now. I know the shelter in Gastonia is at full capacity. If I didn’t already have two pups in a small apartment, I’d get another.
The game starts at 6 p.m. and you can get more details on the Checker’s 90’s night here.
