Company In Charlotte Selling Homemade Gourmet Dog Food And They Deliver
If you have a dog or follow any ‘dog influencers’ on social media, then you’ve probably heard of The Farmer’s Dog gourmet dog food. The homemade dog food offers food specifically for your dog, made with natural ingredients. I looked into it for my dogs, as Kramer has some allergy issues. Honestly, it seems great but it was a bit too pricey for me. Now there’s a company right here in Charlotte that offers gourmet food for your dog and it looks great.
According to Axios Charlotte, For the Love of Dutch offers farm-to-dog bowl food for your furry friend. The local company is similar to the national organic dog food brands but since it’s local to our area, your supporting a small business. You’re also supporting local farmers. The owner and founder of the company, Christi Busch, started her business in 2020.
Busch began cooking for her dogs, Dutch and Lucy, years ago after a vet’s suggestion. One of her dogs developed a health problem, and the vet recommended a holistic diet for the dog. The all-natural diet helped both her pups, so she decided to start her own company.
All of the food made for your dog comes from local and regional farms. You can choose between three different varieties of meat: pork, chicken, and beef. All of the meats are combined with seasonal produce. An example is Daphne’s beef stew which contains sweet potatoes, collard greens, blueberries, cranberries, and egg.
All-natural diets are really good for dogs with stomach issues and/or allergies. Since Kramer has allergies, this is something I may look into. When my dog Gypsy was alive, she developed kidney issues around age 13. The vet recommended a special canned food for her. It was pricey and she didn’t like it much so I started cooking for her. Eventually, I fed both dogs just food that I cooked.
I did some research online and came up with meals for my dogs. I’d make ground chicken, lean, beef or ground pork along with rice, eggs, and I’d use organic baby food veggies in the food. Once in a while I’d use canned tuna in water as the protein. I’d make large batches of food that would last a few days. I totally am with the organic, all-natural diet for dogs.
Although cooking for my dogs helped them, it does take time to make the food. If you’re a busy person or just don’t feel like cooking for your dogs a few times a week, For the Love of Dutch is a great service! Here’s how the local company works:
The food is made weekly and delivered to your home every Thursday.
- It needs to be refrigerated and can be frozen if needed. The food will remain fresh in the fridge for up to a week.
- The bags range from $14-$15 for smaller 16oz-bags and $29-$31 for the large 56-oz bags.
- For the Love of Dutch is based in Charlotte and is available for delivery in the greater Charlotte area, including in Davidson, Mooresville, Gastonia, Fort Mill, Clover, Rock Hill, Waxhaw, Weddington and Matthews.
With Kramer’s allergies, I’m thinking of taking him off bag dry kibble and this looks like an excellent option! My dog Eddy eats EVERYTHING, so she’d love this food as well. Find out more info on their website.
