Prisons Are Going Digital
Did you see the movie Minority Report or ANON? These dystopian movies are coming to fruition. I know that because of interviewing Dr. Madeline McClenney for the past 7 years about the industrialized prison system that leads back to prison pipelines targeting children. Law enforcement, court systems, and correctional entities are going from metal bars to digital bars. We know about ankle monitors for those on probation, but how far will monitoring go? Dr. Madeline has been on a mission to improve and eradicate tough sentences for nonviolent offenders. Her humanitarian work started at an early age and increased after attending Duke University where she earned a Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible/Old Testament Studies in 2001. She also has a minor in Women’s Studies and Islamic Law. Dr. Madeline founded Exodus Foundation offering workshops and mentoring in her Reentry Charity.
You might hear the terms Digital Incarceration or E-Prison:
These terms refer to a system where individuals are incarcerated electronically, possibly through tracking devices or other forms of electronic monitoring, instead of traditional prisons. Whereas, digital monitoring of inmates might involve using advanced technology such as biometric identification, or digital tracking systems. Digital Rehabilitation Programs will consist of AI-driven therapy, providing rehabilitation and educational programs to inmates.
By now you have heard Ads about becoming a Cybersecurity Expert, and this surge might be because our world might soon become a huge TV show with Cybersecurity teammates watching our every move, even households. This could refer to using digital systems to enhance the security of prisons against cyber threats, such as hacking attempts that could compromise inmate data or prison infrastructure. With new technology at its height, we are witnessing our right to privacy go away. Lastly, prisons have limited access to information on the internet, but that is quickly changing. Check out this new prison in Utah. Keep up the great work Dr. Madline McClenney!
