Many Students In Charlotte Facing Homelessness But You Can Help Provide Resources
With the cost of living steadily increasing, many families are having a hard time. Rent in our area is at an all-time high, which causes families to relocate, many to hotels. Affordable housing is definitely a problem. Many kids in our area are starting back to school without the resources they need to be successful. You can help make sure kids have what they need!
According to WCNC, thousands of CMS students are dealing with housing insecurity, many living in hotels week to week. With families focusing on a place to live and feeding their children, many are attending school without all of the proper tools. The ‘Just Do It Movement’ here in Charlotte is offering an event for those kids in need.
There will be an event for kids and families dealing with housing insecurities and other hardships. It will be on August 27 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 5108-5 Reagan Drive in Charlotte. If your family or a family you know is in need, this event will be offering free haircuts, shoes, food, and other necessities.
Although I wasn’t a teacher long, when I did teach, I had numerous students that dealt with many issues, including not having enough food. In our country, all children should be able to have a safe place to sleep and food to eat. ‘Just Do It Movement’ is a non-profit organization that is helping families in our area, and you can volunteer.
Folks are needed not only for this upcoming event, but year-round. If your company or business would like to become involved or become a sponsor, you can visit jdimovement.org. or call (980)238-4980. If your family or a family you know would like to sign up for the event on August 27, you can do that here.
CMS shared numbers with @LexiWCNC that show the district has never seen so many families experiencing housing insecurity. https://t.co/aT89xk0e4Z
