Charlotte’s 59th Annual Festival In The Park Will Be Fun For All Ages
When I think of my childhood and growing up in Charlotte and Gastonia, one of the fun things I remember is ‘Festival in the Park‘ at Freedom Park. My mom lived in Charlotte, not too far from the park, and we’d always go to the festival in the fall. Eating cotton candy, getting a big balloon and having my face painted always made for a great weekend!
The 59th Annual Festival in the Park is happening here in Charlotte next weekend. September 22-September 24, Freedom Park will be filled with local artisans, musicians, food and fun for the entire family. According to WCNC, there will be more than 700 visual and performing artists at this year’s festival. In addition, there will be tons of family entertainment, food, and wine and beer.
Food, Fun, And Shopping
You’ll be able to purchase paintings, jewelry, pottery and more from local artisans and enjoy foods from around the world! 40 plus food vendors will be at the festival serving everything from sweets to barbeque to egg rolls. Of course, festival favorites cotton candy and funnel cakes will be on hand as well. NoDa Brewing is this year’s beer sponsor, so you’ll be able to enjoy a craft beer while walking around, enjoying the festivities. If beer isn’t your drink, wine and wine slushies will also be available.
As far as entertainment goes, numerous musical acts and dance troupes will be performing. There will be arts and crafts for the kids along with a ‘Family Fun Zone’ that will have a rock climbing wall, a Rapid Slide, Fun House, swings and more. You can bring lawn chairs and blankets to the festival. Pets are not allowed this year, so leave the furry friends at home.
Festival in the Park is has something for everyone! If you’ve never been, go! You’ll be able to experience so many cool things that Charlotte has to offer. It’s been years since I’ve been, but I have such great memories of this festival from the 70’s and 80’s. You can get all the info on the festival here.
