Amazon Is Hiring In Charlotte Now Before The Holiday Rush Hits
It’s never too early to snag some extra cash before the holidays! If you’re looking for a season job, Amazon here in Charlotte is hiring now before the holiday rush hits. According to WCNC, the retail giant is looking to fill 6,500 positions before the holidays.
Amazon is looking for people to work in several roles, including packing, sorting, shipping and drivers. Average pay for these jobs is $20.50 per hour with some workers earning up to $28 per hour. That’s not bad at all! Their distribution center here in Charlotte is on Wilkinson Blvd., just before you cross over the bridge into Gaston County. If I drive home on Hwy 74, I’ll pass it. Traffic does get even crazier in late November through December in that area.
The company is also planning on hiring more than 3,500 employees in the Raleigh area. Their hoping to add more than 11,000 workers here in North Carolina, and 250,000 across the country. The positions range from full-time to part-time seasonal openings.
John Felton, Amazon’s senior vice president of worldwide operations, says, ‘Whether someone is looking for a short-term way to make extra money, or is hoping to take their first step toward a fulfilling and rewarding career at Amazon, there’s a role available for them.’ He also says that a fulfillment or transportation employee who starts with us today will see a 13% increase in pay over the next three years—likely more, including our annual wage investments. That’s in addition to offerings like pre-paid college tuition with Career Choice and health care benefits on day one. That’s pretty good! With lots of job openings, you have to wait 30-90 days before health care benefits begin.
