When Is The Best Time To Put Your Christmas Tree Up? Experts Ring In
It’s the beginning of November and for many people, that means the Christmas season begins. And by that, I mean as soon as Halloween is over, the Christmas decorations go up. One of my friends is already decorating for Christmas and another friend put her tree up last week! Studies show that Christmas decor makes many people happy, and I’m all for that! But when do the experts say you should put your tree up?
According to the experts at Christmas Tree World, trees shouldn’t be put up until Advent begins, which is on the fourth Sunday before Christmas. This year that’s December 3. According to Parade Magazine, it depends if you are using a real or artificial tree as to when it should go up.
If you go the artificial tree route, you can put your tree up whenever you are feeling festive. Since many people find joy in the sparkle and decor of Christmas, it’s totally up to you when you should go all out for the holiday season. Having a pretty tree in your home helps many people find comfort and it brings about feelings of happiness. If this is you, then you should get going on the decorating as soon as you have some free time.
For most of us, decorating takes some time so it may take a few days to get all of your decorations and ornaments situated. Getting your home ready for the holidays should be fun and stress-free, so make sure you’re doing it when you have time. Don’t rush.
When Should You Put Up A Live Tree
Home improvement TV host Bob Vila says that if you’re putting a live tree in your home, that they usually only last about four weeks, when taken care of properly. This means you’ll need to wait a few weeks before getting your tree up and decorating it. That said, you can still start other decorating projects around your home if the Christmas decorations make you happy.
Many American families choose the day after Thanksgiving to begin their tree decorating. Some experts say that once the holiday shopping season begins, your tree can go up. I’m not sure that idea works now. I mean, holiday shopping sales started in October! There are lots of stores that are already having ‘Black Friday’ sales. I’ve never understood this. ‘Black Friday’ is the day after Thanksgiving! Just say you’re having an early damn holiday sale. LOL!
At the end of the day, putting up holiday decorations and a Christmas tree is a personal preference. If the holidays make you happy, I say bust out all your Christmas things now! If you’re more of a traditionalist and like to wait until closer to Thanksgiving or after, then that’s cool! Whatever makes you feel good and brings you joy, go for it!
