Festive North Carolina Snow Tubing Park Opening Soon
Skiing and ice skating aren’t things I do. After three knee surgeries and one neck surgery, I’d be stupid to try either. In addition, I’m a total clutz! I’ve been that way since I was a kid. My dad had a nickname for me when I was a child. He’d call me ‘grace’. LOL! That says it all! But snow tubing is something I can do and this spot in the North Carolina mountains sounds like a blast!
According to Only in Your State, Jonas Ridge Snow Tubing in Newland, North Carolina is a fun winter adventure! The park has 400-foot-long slopes that are steep and fast so that you can get the most out of each tubing run. This family fun experience for any age, and kids will definitely love it. If you aren’t a fan of snow or the cold, they have a viewing area so you can watch the festivities.
The park is just off Hwy 81, close to Boone, so it’s great for a day trip or for a snow-filled weekend. There are five lanes for tubing, and the lanes are arranged by height, with the shorter folks in Lane 1. This is great because kids will be together if they’re around the same age. That said, I’m only 5’2 so I’d probably be in a lane with children. LOL!
Making Plans To Go
The tubing slopes will be opening on December 18, and admission is $30 for one hour, $45 for two hours. For kids ages 6 and under it costs $25 for one hour and $40 for two. Looking at the Jonas Ridge Snow Tubing website, you can book your trip in advance. In addition, they have small and large group booking availability. They also offer military discounts.
If you have family or friends staying with you for Christmas, this would be a great road trip! Everyone can enjoy tubing. The website gives you all the info you need to know about what to wear, times they’re open, and closing info if there’s severe weather. This is definitely something the kids will love!
