Jonathan Majors’ Ex-Girlfriend Testifies In Court
Jonathan Majors was in court Tuesday (Nov. 5) for his assault trial. His ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari took the stand to recount the alleged assault she encountered during her relationship with Majors.
During Jabbari’s testimony, she recounted incidents of alleged abuse. She said that the actor “threw glass candles at her head when she asked if he was OK, didn’t speak to her for days because she went to a music festival, and berated her for mentioning an ex-boyfriend,” according to CBS News.
An audio clip of Majors was played in court where he was yelling at Jabbari. In it, he complimented himself on being a “great man” and said that he wanted a woman like Michelle Obama.
Jabbari testified that the two met on the set of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and their relationship progressed fast before the alleged abuse began. Majors is facing two charges of assault in the third degree, as well as harassment and aggravated harassment.
The Alleged Assault In March 2023
Back in March, Jabbari alleges that while she and Majors were in an SUV in Chelsea, she tried to grab his phone after seeing a text message from a woman that read: “Wish I was kissing you right now.” This incident allegedly occurred just after midnight (12:40 a.m.).
“I further observed [Majors] grab my right arm, place it behind my body, and use his hands to twist my right forearm and right middle finger, causing substantial pain to my right forearm and right middle finger,” Jabbari said, according to the complaint per The Daily Beast. “I further observed [Majors] strike me with his hand across my right ear causing substantial pain and a laceration behind my right ear.”
Jabbari also claims the Creed III actor pushed her into a car with “both of his hands.” This allegedly caused her to fall backward. She was granted a temporary order of protection following the alleged incident.
Majors’ lawyer Priya Chaudhry, said she has video evidence showing, “irrefutable evidence that the woman is lying, including video proof showing nothing happened, especially not where she claimed.” Majors and Chaudhry claim it was Jabbari who attacked him and he was trying to defend himself.
After the alleged altercation, Jabbari was seen out partying and did not seem to have any bodily injuries.
Jonathan Majors Arrested On Alleged Assault Charges
On March 25, Majors was arrested on suspicion of strangulation, assault and harassment after police responded to a call around 11:14 a.m. at an apartment in Chelsea. Jabbari claimed that Majors attacked him. He was later released on his own recognizance the same day after being arraigned the day after.
Six months after the alleged incident, Jabbari was arrested on charges of misdemeanor assault and criminal mischief. Majors filed a cross-complaint after supplying video evidence that refuted Jabbari’s allegations. However, the Manhattan District Attorney’s office eventually dropped the charges. They “declined to prosecute the case against Grace Jabbari because it lacks prosecutorial merit.”
The trial is expected to last two weeks, and if convicted, Majors could spend up to one year in prison.
