North Carolina Is Getting Its First Buc-ee’s Store And I Can’t Wait
I have never been to a Buc-ee’s store, but over the last year or so, it’s become a bit of a tourist attraction. The closest store to Charlotte right now is in Florence, South Carolina, and over the summer I had a few friends road trip just to shop there. Not stopping on their way to the beach, but going just to experience Buc-ee’s. The convenience store/gas station is massive and has some great food. A store will be opening in North Carolina.
According to WCNC, the City of Mebane is supporting a store being built there. Mebane City Council approved bringing a Buc-ee’s to the North Carolina area and it will be the first. The vote was 5-0. In addition to folks being excited about the new store, there are some folks that aren’t very happy with the upcoming new addition.
As with any growing city, the addition of a large Buc-ee’s store will bring in more traffic and more people to the area. It’s great for the economy, but locals aren’t happy about more traffic. And I get that!
More Traffic, More Problems
Living in Gastonia most of my life, I’ve seen the city grow lots. Never did I imagine it would be as big as it is now. Growing up, you could get almost anywhere in the city within 10-15 minutes. Now, it takes 20-30 minutes. A better economy and growth always means more traffic and sometimes, more problems. With lots more traffic, you can’t get anywhere as quickly and there’s usually more accidents. As with anything in life, there’s good and bad.
I had to look up Mebane, and it’s about a two hour drive from Charlotte. The city is located mostly in Alamance County, North Carolina, and partly in Orange County. Not too bad of a ride if you want to take a day trip to get out the Buc-ee’s once it’s built. No word on that yet. Not sure if it will be this year or next, but I’m excited!
I’ve only had the Beaver Nuggets from Buc-ee’s and they are dangerous! Tasty and easy to eat lots of them before you know it! It’s my understanding that the store also has amazing food like sandwiches and brisket. Looking forward to checking it out!
