This story just breaks my heart. I feel for the dog and the shelter. There's a dog here in North Carolina that spent 650 days at the Watauga Humane Society. Finally, the sweet girl was adopted, only to be returned to the rescue organization. Heart breaking!

According to Yahoo, 12-year-old Chiquitita arrived at the shelter in Boone, N.C. in 2002. After waiting over so long for a forever home, the white pit bull was returned due to no fault of her own. The aging girl is a huge fan of kisses and loves walking around the neighborhood. She's also a big fan of naps and snuggles.

Looking at the Watauga Humane Society Facebook page, there's a post with lots of pictures of Chiquitita and she is adorable. In addition to the pictures, the post also says that the shelter believes there's a right home for every pet, and a wrong one as well. The adopter of this dog was obviously not a good match.

Chiquitita Can Be Your Valentine

I realize that not everyone is up for adopting a senior dog. In 2019, I rescued a 12-year-old Jack Russell named Mollie. This poor girl was not taken care of at all and the people that had her didn't want to deal with her because she was getting older. GRRRRRRR. I won't even start! Mollie was scheduled for euthanasia, but luckily a rescue organization pulled her, and I immediately adopted her. After getting her well, she became a great playmate and sister for Kramer.

Mollie was only with me for a year. She became ill right after my neck surgery, and I had to let her go. Just writing that brings tears to my eyes. She was a fiesty girl and such a looker! I hate that the idiots that had her for so long didn't take care of her properly. I think she would have lived longer.

Just because Chiquitita is an older, doesn't mean she shouldn't be happy. Due to some arthritis issues, she'll need to be the only dog in the house. I am hoping that sharing her story will help get her the Valentine she deserves. Someone please help this sweet girl!  She deserves to spend the rest of her days being happy and treated like a princess.
