Help Local Rescue Pups At 3rd Annual Charlotte Dog Jog
If helping animals is something you’re passionate about, this event is for you! On March 17, St. Patrick’s Day morning, which is THIS Sunday, you can take part in the ‘Charlotte Dog Jog 5K Run and Walk’, presented by LendScout. If seeing the word ‘run’ stresses you out, don’t worry! People of all athletic abilities can come out and enjoy the event. Walking is more my speed, so I’m in for that.
This year the proceeds from the event will benefit local rescue organizations. Gilmore Dog Rescue is the official sponsor for the event and will have adoptable rescue dogs at the event. If you have a dog, feel free to bring them along for the fun!
Running and/or walking isn’t all you can do to help! As of right now, with CMPD overworked and over capacity, volunteers are needed to help bring about 10-20 adoptable dogs out to the event. If you’re available and willing to help, all you’ll need to do is walk around the event with one of the pups in need of their forever home. IF you can help out, you can reach out to Shelley Gilmore, who runs Gilmore Dog Rescue. She’ll be more than happy to give you all the info you need. If your family or kids love dogs, this would be an awesome way to help out at the event.
Rescues Are In Serious Need
Numerous shelters and rescues in our area are full and are in need of fosters and adopters. Both Phil and I have two rescue dogs each, and if I had a house with a fenced in yard, I’d have more. The 5K Run and Walk is fur and family friendly, so bring out as many folks as you’d like to help local dogs.
The Charlotte Dog Jog is happening at McAlpine Creek Park, and the fun is starting at 9 a.m. There will be vendors at the event, as well as family festive activities. Registration is happening now, and you can get all the info on that here.
If you’ve been thinking about adding a new furry addition to your family, this event is going to be a great place to meet some available doggos. In addition to walking or running, you can also volunteer and help with adoptable dogs. See the flyer below for info if you’d like to help out! Grab your friends, neighbors and co-workers and help make this event amazing!
