Olivia Rodrigo Falls Through Stage During Guts Tour: ‘I’m OK!’
Many performers have faced mishaps on stage, from falls to wardrobe malfunctions or simply embarrassing moments. Olivia Rodrigo joined that list during her third of eight Guts World Tour shows in Australia. She fell through a hole in the stage at Melbourneâs Rod Laver Arena on Sunday, Oct. 13, as the audience freaked out, according to fan videos posted on X and TikTok.
âOh my God, that was fun! I’m OK,â Rodrigo said, laughing off the unexpected tumble as she pulled herself back up. Once standing, she joked, âWow, sometimes, there’s just a hole in the stage.” Later, she shared a clip of the fall on TikTok with the caption, “#subtleforeshadowing.”
“That’s alright,” she continued, catching her breath with her left hand on her head and her right on the mic. “OK, where was I? Howâre we doing tonight, Melbourne?â
Rodrigo quickly shrugged off the incident, completing the show without issue. She still has one more Melbourne show and four in Sydney to go as part of the Australian leg of the Guts World Tour.
After the singer shared the video on TikTok, fans were quick to share their thoughts on the mishap. One joked, âitâs brutal out here,â referencing one of her songs. Another wrote, âTHE WAY SHE FALLS DOWN AND INSTANTLY GETS UP SAYING “OMG THAT’S FUNNY, I’M OK” IS SO ICONIC.â A third chimed in, âthe way i would stay down there and canceled the show if this ever happened to me.â
Rodrigo is no stranger to handling onstage blunders like a pro. In May, she experienced a minor wardrobe malfunction during a performance at Londonâs O2 Arena. A TikTok clip captured her performing âLove Is Embarrassingâ when the laces of her bandeau top broke. She quickly grabbed her top, preventing it from slipping, while signaling a dancer who stepped in to help.
âLoveâs embarrassing as hell,â Rodrigo sang, laughing as the lyrics perfectly matched the situation.
This latest mishap comes just weeks ahead of the release of her Netflix concert film, Olivia Rodrigo: Guts World Tour, set to debut on Oct. 29.
âFor those of you who didnât get a chance to rock out in-person, now you can have the best seats in the house!â Rodrigo said in a statement announcing the concert film. âAnd to the fans who cheered, screamed, and danced with me, I am so glad we get to do it all over again!â
