Identical Twins Separated At Birth Reunite Decades Later
Have you ever done one of those DNA tests to learn about your ancestry ? It’s pretty amazing what some people have discovered as a result. Two women in the U.S., Emily Bushnell and Molly Sinert, both grew up knowing they were adopted from South Korea as infants, but very little else.
Emily Bushnell was raised in Philadelphia by her adopted American family and didn’t know much about her biological family, so her 11-year-old daughter, Isabel, pushed her to look into their genetics. According to Good Morning America, Emily didn’t feel comfortable taking the DNA test herself, but let Isabel take it.
Meanwhile, Molly Sinert, who grew up in Florida, was also adopted by an American family after being born in South Korea, but she didn’t know anything about her biological family either. She decided to take a DNA test to learn more and that’s when she made a startling discovery .
Emily and Molly got their results back around the same time and were shocked to find out that they’re identical twins. The long lost sisters got in touch right away and waited until their recent 36th birthday to see each other face-to-face for the first time. What a birthday present!
Now that they’ve met in person, the sisters are making up for lost time. “This is the happiest moment of my life,” Emily said when they met. “I can honestly say that. I was robbed of the last 36 years of a life that I could have had with my twin. But at the same time, I’m very grateful and excited for what lies ahead.” Molly and Emily are now planning a trip to South Korea together.
