Demi Lovato Feels They Are ‘Most Authentic’ As Non-Binary
Demi Lovato shared a video on their Twitter account late last night revealing that they identify as non-binary with the pronouns they/them.
Lovato started off the Twitter thread writing, “Every day we wake up, we are given another opportunity & chance to be who we want & wish to be. I’ve spent the majority of my life growing in front of all of you… you’ve seen the good, the bad, & everything in between.”
28-year-old Lovato said they experienced a revelation after doing some healing and self-reflective work, resulting in their identification as non-binary and officially changing their pronouns to they/them. (Non-binary means you are not exclusively a man nor a woman.) They say this best represents the fluidity they feel in their gender expression and allows them to feel the “most authentic and true to the person” they know they are and are still discovering.
Dubbed as the first episode of 4D, Lovato said they wanted to make it clear that “I’m still learning and still coming into myself. I don’t claim to be an expert or a spokesperson.” As Lovato continues on to give more details for a forthcoming episode, where they are going to be joined by an important member of the non-binary community to speak more about “identity at large” and reflect on how Lovato came into their truth so that we can all live our lives “authentically.”

The thread of tweets under the video read:
“Not only has my life been a journey for myself, I was also living for those on the other side of the cameras.
Today is a day I’m so happy to share more of my life with you all- I am proud to let you know that I identify as non-binary & will officially be changing my pronouns to they/them moving forward.
This has come after a lot of healing & self-reflective work. I’m still learning & coming into myself, & I don’t claim to be an expert or a spokesperson. Sharing this with you now opens another level of vulnerability for me.
I’m doing this for those out there that haven’t been able to share who they truly are with their loved ones. Please keep living in your truths & know I am sending so much love your way xox.”
