It seems like Billy Joel’s music has always been there for us. His songs have been a soundtrack for generations of Americans and fans around the world. That’s why his concerts are basically sing alongs. As soon as you hear the first few notes of a Billy Joel song, even if you haven’t listened to it for years, the words immediately come flooding back.
Billy has been prolific, to say the least. Since 1971, he has released 13 studio albums, six live albums, 17 compilation albums, 10 video albums, 61 singles, three promotional singles, and 45 music videos. And he still sells out Madison Square Garden in New York City once a month. In fact, Billy holds the record for the most performances by an artist at the iconic arena.
Over the course of his long career, Billy Joel had plenty of hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including three that made it all the way to #1. Those chart-toppers all came in the 1980s: “It’s Still Rock & Roll To Me” (1980), “Tell Her About It” (1983), and “We Didn’t Start The Fire” (1989).
