Well-crafted pop hits and magazine cover good looks took Duran Duran to the top of the charts and all over the world. Soon, they’ll be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as well. As of this posting (3/3/22), Duran Duran is leading the fan vote and appear to be a shoo-in for induction as part of the Class of 2022.
Formed in Birmingham, UK in 1978 by John Taylor and Nick Rhodes, Duran Duran’s lineup would not be complete until Roger Taylor, Andy Taylor, and Simon Le Bon joined over the next two years. All but Andy Taylor are still in the band. By the way, none of the Taylors are related. The band’s name came from ‘Durand-Durand,’ a character in the 1968 sci-fi film Barbarella.
Duran Duran have long had an extremely loyal following in every corner of the globe. Their music videos reflect their international reach. Consider the three below: “Hungry Like The Wolf” was shot in Sri Lanka, “Rio” in Antigua, and “A View To A Kill” on the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
