Favorite North Carolina City Named One Of The World’s Best Places For Christmas

Christmas is a magical time of year no matter where you are. But some places are a step above when it comes to the holiday spirit and atmosphere. And one of those is right here in NC. Yes, a North Carolina city is one of the world's best places to spend Christmas. Like yes, the entire world. If that's not high praise I'm not sure what is. This is according to Conde Naste Traveler. They recently released a list of the 32 best places to spend Christmas worldwide. The list includes cities on a variety of continents, in numerous countries, and in both hemisphere. Because who says the best place to spend Christmas has to be a winter wonderland? However, for me, snow would bring the best Christmas ever. Of the 32 cities, just 4 were in the US. Of course, you can guess one of those four. It has to be New York City. There is nothing like New York at Christmas. The window displays, ice skating, the tree in Rockefeller Center, and a personal favorite of mine- The Rockettes, it's truly a dream. And while I am heading to the city to get in the Christmas spirit this year, it was a North Carolina city I frequent (often around the holidays) that Conde Naste Travel recognized as a wonderful place to spend Christmas. Asheville, NC Can you guess? It's Asheville, NC. One of the main things they highlighted when talking about Asheville is Biltmore Estate. The Vanderbilts famously opened their home on Christmas Eve, and the house and entire estate are yearly dressed to the nines in Christmas decor and lights. The Candlelight Christmas Evenings are a sight to behold. They also mention the North Carolina Arboretum's holiday lights which is something I haven't seen before. I was a little surprised they didn't mention one of my other favorite holiday traditions in Asheville- the Grove Park Inn. From the gingerbread houses to the holiday pop-up bar in the lobby, and of course, sitting by the magnificent fireplaces, it's a must-do for me!
