The weather is getting warmer and it’s time to head back outside. Experience a hike with some friends, a significant other, or all by yourself. There are tons of hiking trails in and around the Charlotte area you could enjoy this summer with some of your favorite people. Of course, there is Crowder’s Mountain but ever heard of Roan Highlands? Or how about Stone Mountain? No? That’s why I am here!

Let’s get explorative and experience all that the Charlotte area has to offer when it comes to a hike. Enjoy the scenic views, the long strides, and possibly the sore legs. But once you make it to the top of that hike, it’s all worth it. I have compiled a list of some of my bucket list places to catch a hike just for you! But shhh, it’s top secret!

• Crowder's Mountain

  Of course, first up is Crowder’s Mountain. It’s truly a staple that I cannot wait to experience more this summer!

• Rocky Face Mountain Recreational Area

  Rocky Face is a new one. Never heard of it, but upon further research it was added to the list!

• Boone's Cave State Park

  Hike at Boone’s Cave Park and experience all of nature. After a good hike, I might swing by the local spots for some great food and drinks they have in the area!

• South Fork Rail Trail

  South Fork is making the list and I can already feel how sore my legs would be when this one is over!

• Evergreen Nature Preserve

  This 77-acre Evergreen Nature Preserve will be a hike of a lifetime. Tons of trees and land to explore in a unique way!

• Latta Plantation Nature Preserve

  Latta Nature Reserve is close to Charlotte with 16 miles of hiking trails for all walkers, runners, bike riders, etc. to enjoy!

• Uwharrie National Recreation Trail

  The Uwharrie National Recreation Trail is 20 miles of hiking ground for those looking for adventure. Fortunately, the difficulty level is only easy to moderate. Perfect!

• Mount Mitchell State Park

  I am no Super Man (or woman), but I do love a challenge. Mount Mitchell may win, but it won’t hurt to try this 4.5-hour hike to the top trail. May take a few tries to get there, but hopefully I do!
