Even though I know it’s not ‘healthy’, I love a good dessert! Cake, pie, ice cream, cookies…it’s all yummy. Valentine’s Day is Tuesday and if you’re looking to splurge, Charlotte Five has a list of six spots here in Charlotte that offer mega desserts. These are great to share with your special someone or perfect if you want to treat yourself. You don’t have to have a Valentine to celebrate love! Hook yourself up is what I say!

Charlotte Five’s list has five mega desserts you can find at different places in Charlotte. So many treats! These will tantalize your taste buds! Make sure to wear some elastic waist band pants when checking out these spots.

  • Carolina Scoops-Pineville

The go-to dessert at this Pineville hot spot is their Queen Shake-Red Velvet Cake. This amazing dessert is only available this month, so grab it while you can. It’s a red velvet milkshake with a piece of red velvet cake on top. It’s massive! It has a vanilla frosted edible rim with heart shaped sprinkles, marshmallow drizzle, whipped cream and pink sprinkles on top. This is a dessert that screams Valentine’s Day!

  • Mama Ricotta's-Charlotte

It’s been years since I’ve been to Mama Ricotta’s! Their food is legendary and if you love Italian food like I do, you must check the restaurant out! I know their pasta and pizza are delicious, but I had no idea they offered a giant piece of chocolate cake that folks rave about. Chocolate is my downfall and just looking at this piece of cake is making me hungry. Mama’s Giant Chocolate Cake is made of layers of chocolate cake and rich fudge frosting. It’s served with salted caramel sauce, chocolate crunch and whipped cream. Sounds like pure perfection!

  • Ninety's Dessert Bar-Charlotte

I’ve never been to Ninety’s Dessert Bar, but I follow them on Instagram and every single dessert they post looks outstanding! They’re always so pretty! And their Magical Unicorn Specialty Shake doesn’t disappoint. The shake screams fun and it’s so bright and colorful. If you have kids, they will go nuts over this!

  • Open Rice-Charlotte

I’ve never heard of Open Rice, but they have two locations in Charlotte and offer lots of treats. They’re known for their Bubble Waffle, a popular Hong Kong street snack. You can choose two toppings, two drizzles and an ice cream flavor to create your own magical concoction. Charlotte Five says to check out their Nerd Alert; rainbow Nerds, sprinkles, whipped cream, raspberry drizzle, condensed milk and vanilla ice cream.

I have had a Bubble Waffle before, and I can say they are delicious! There was a shop in Gastonia that made them and my mom and I tried them. My advice is to get extra napkins! Yummy but messy!

  • Steak 48-Charlotte

I’ve heard good things about Steak 48 but haven’t been. If you have a special date for Valentine’s Day or want an upscale night out with your friends, this is the place to go! The special dessert to order here is the Beignet Tree.  This dessert is a secret menu item, so you’ll have to ask for it. If you’re looking to impress someone this Valentine’s Day, this is the place you need to go!

Looking at their socials, dessert wise I’d go for their Very Chocolate Cake with Bada Bing Cherries. This looks like heaven!

  • Stoke-Charlotte

Stoke is another restaurant I’m unfamiliar with (I don’t get out much) but if you’re a doughnut fan, this is a place you need to check out! They have a one-pound doughnut that is a dessert for you and your friends or family! This one is definitely shareable.

It’s a brioche doughnut topped with diplomat cream, Heath bar crumbles and powdered sugar. Big and beautiful!
