Popeyes Chicken Sandwich May Have Led to a Man Being Fatally Stabbed
The return of Popeyes Chicken Sandwich may have led to the stabbing death of a man in Maryland.
Per NBC News, Jennifer Donelan, a spokeswoman for the Prince George Police Department, said a 28-year-old man was killed during a fight yesterday (November 4) at the Popeyes location in Oxon Hill, Md., which is near Washington D.C.
Donelan said the fight inside the Popeyes was started when someone cut in line but was later moved outside the restaurant. The 28-year-old man was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. A suspect has yet to be identified.
In a statement, Donelan said, “For you to get that angry over anything — for that type of anger to develop into this type of violence, again is a very sad and tragic day.”
Popeyes released the following statement to NBC News regarding the tragic incident: “We do not yet know whether this was the result of a dispute over one of our products or something unrelated, but there is no reason for someone to lose their life on a Monday night in a parking lot. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends and we are fully cooperating with local authorities.”
Popeyes Chicken Sandwich, which famously sold out when released in August, returned to the menu this past Sunday (November 3.)
