Little League Softball World Series Moving To North Carolina This Summer
Approximately 300,000 girls in more than 25 countries play Little League Softball. This year, they’re all hoping to finish their season in North Carolina. After 26 years in Portland, Oregon, the Little League Softball World Series is moving to Greenville.
The 2020 tournament will be played at Stallings Stadium in Greenville’s Elm Street Park, August 12-19. Ten teams from around the world, including the host team from North Carolina, will participate. Rowan Little League from Salisbury, NC won the World Series Championship in Portland last year.
ESPN is broadcasting all of this year’s tournament games. Andrew Schmidt, President and CEO of Visit Greenville NC, predicts a possible one million dollar impact on local businesses from the influx of teams, families, and media. Greenville will host the Little League Softball World Series for the next five years.
