CLT Ranks As The 4th Most Expensive Airport Nationwide
Some people love to fly, others hate it. Put me in the love category. I always enjoy traveling but when you are flying it can add to the cost of the trip for sure. Especially if you’re flying out of Charlotte. It’s not your imagination either. New data ranked CLT as the 4th most expensive airport in the continental US.
This is according to new research shared with us by our friends at FinanceBuzz. They looked at average domestic airfares from the 45 busiest airports in the U.S.
Finance Buzz reports that “the national average airfare cost decreased by 3.1% from 2022 to 2023 when adjusted for inflation”. This marks the first time airfare prices have fallen since 2020. Now THAT is some good news!
Unfortunately, it doesn’t quite apply to Charlotte.
Here is What Finance Buzz Determined The Most Expensive Airport(s) to fly out of:
- Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) – $488.40
2. San Francisco International Airport (SFO) – $444.59
3. Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) – $438.34
4. Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) – $436.80
5. Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) – $427.05
If you happen to be in the middle it may be worth your while to fly out of Raleigh. I can speak from experience as well that RDU is also very easy to navigate and security was a breeze. There is a good chance you may have to connect possibly in CLT depending on your airline. I still do and will fly out of Charlotte most often for the sheer convenience of it.
On the opposite end of the spectrum Orlando’s MCO is the most affordable airport to fly out of! Good news for all you theme park lovers out there!
If you fly a lot and are looking to save money an airline credit card is definitely the way to go! Booking further out can also help you get more affordable fares as well.
