Grandma Show What Barbie Dolls Would Look Like Under Quarantine And It’s Awesome
This is THE best! If these dolls ever hit stores or are for sale, I’m totally buying one! Lots of people have found new hobbies since the pandemic and this woman has created some amazing dolls!
Tonya Ruiz, also known as “Grandma Gets Real”, campaigned for years against Barbie dolls because she felt they set unrealistic body image standards for girls. The dolls are much more realistic now than they were years ago, so Ruiz thought she’d have some fun with them.
Ruiz has created “Quarantined Barbie Dolls”, showing what the dolls would look like if they were real people dealing with the pandemic. There are eight dolls, and they all portray life during quarantine.
There’s “Quarantine Barbie Starter Pack” with the doll in stretchy pants, holding a liquor bottle and a coffee cup. Accessories include toilet paper, wet ones wipes, crossword puzzle, cards, snacks, Whiskey in a Teacup Book and more. HA!
Next up is “Quarantined Bread Baking Barbie” who is wearing an apron covered in flour. Accessories include a mixer, flour, eggs, milk, butter and more.
Ruiz is really crafty and seems to have an awesome sense of humor! You can read more about the dolls and see pics here and you can also check out Ruiz’s Instagram page and website.
I think these dolls are so cool and totally relatable. Creating these took some time and I love the accessories. Excellent job!
