Carolina Panthers Remove Jerry Richardson Statue From Bank of America Stadium
The Carolina Panthers officially removed the Jerry Richardson statue in addition to the two panthers the surrounded it today (6/10). This statue has been in place since 2016 when Jerry Richardson was gifted on his 80th birthday.
As the previous owner of the Carolina Panthers and an individual who faced serious sexual harassment and additional charges, the statue still stayed per new owner David Tepper’s requests. However, the reason for the removal of the statue is due to public safety in Charlotte.
The Carolina Panthers released a statement that they were removing the statue and surround panthers “in the interest of public safety.” At this time, they did not state where the statues would be relocated to.
We were aware of the most recent conversation surrounding the Jerry Richardson statue and are concerned there may be attempts to take it down. We are moving the statue in the interest of public safety.
