Has The Coronavirus Left You With A Case Of FOGO
When I was younger I was always scared that if I didn’t go out, I’d miss something. At the age of 50, I no longer suffer from FOMA (fear of missing out) I now know I’m missing nothing by staying home.
This leads me to FOGO (fear of going out) which I think I am now suffering from thanks to the pandemic. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not “scared” of leaving my house, but I am a little afraid of being around large groups of people. Maybe afraid is the wrong word. I’m uncomfortable thinking of being in a large crowd now.
As states across the country begin to re-open, people can once again eat at restaurants, get their hair cut and go shopping. Although many are taking advantage of their newfound freedom, some are justifiably not. A new article in Forbes says that lots of people are not going out because they are concerned about their health and because they are dreading returning to life’s hustle and bustle.
This totally makes sense to me. Again, I’m not scared to leave my house, but being around people now makes me a bit uneasy. I miss seeing live music, but the thought of going to a crowded concert freaks me out now! Even wearing a mask, I don’t think I’d wanna be around a whole lot of people.
It’s crazy how life has changed in a span of a few months. I hate to say this because I’m an outgoing person, but I’ve become a bit of an introvert now. I’ve gotten used to being alone. I’m sure that’ll change once we get back to a bit of normalcy.
If you’ve been dealing with FOGO, just know you’re not alone. I’m right there with ya! You can read more about it here. Stay safe!
