Little League World Series Returns With Some Changes
Last year, the Little League World Series was canceled due to the pandemic, which was the first time in the youth baseball tournament’s 75-year existence. After the one-year hiatus, the Little League World Series is returning to Williamsport, Pennsylvania this August. However, it will be significantly different this year.
According to the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, the 2021 tournament will feature sixteen U.S. teams only. Normally, the Little League World Series truly is a “world series” with teams coming to play from around the globe. Furthermore, a limited amount of spectators will be allowed in the stands and staff will be required to show proof of vaccination.
The girls will get to play, too. Little League International will also host its annual World Series for softball in Greenville, North Carolina this summer. That tournament will feature only ten teams from around the U.S.
Officials have yet to announce exactly how many spectators will be allowed at this year’s Little League World Series. Parents will want to know soon. And hopefully, international teams will be able to participate again in 2022.
