Restaurant’s “Receipt Wall” Let’s Diners Help Feed Those In Need
I love this idea! It’s an easy way to help out folks that are in need of a hot meal. Several restaurants in Miami, Oklahoma have put up giving walls or receipt walls, where customers can pre-pay for meals. Then anyone in need can come by and get a free meal, no questions asked.
The Dawg House, a gourmet hot dog spot owned by Jennifer White, was the first to put up a receipt wall. Within the first eight hours, the wall was full of meal receipts. So far, customers of the restaurant have provided more than 600 meals to people in the community that are homeless or facing hard times.
Some of those who have been the recipients of a meal have even come back to repay the kindness by adding a receipt of their own. White says some of her regular customers will purchase 10 to 50 giveaway meals at a time.
This is an amazing this to do! Such an easy way to help people who are in need. And there seem to be lots of folks that could use some help right now. If you own a restaurant or are a regular at a particular establishment, bring this idea up. It’d be great if we could get something like this going in and around Charlotte. And let me know! I’d love to know about someone doing something like this.
In Miami, Oklahoma, a town of 13,000 people, residents are giving back to those in need with the use of a “giving wall” at restaurants. Diners can post a receipt for prepaid food, which anyone can claim, judgement free and no questions asked. https://t.co/KX1SPqOjRX
