Strawberry Moon To Lead To Emotional Overdrive
Coming up on June 24th we will be experiencing a phenomenon known as a Full Strawberry Moon. According to Farmer’s Almanac, “June’s full Moon—typically the last full Moon of spring or the first of summer—is traditionally called the Strawberry Moon. This name has been used by Algonquin, Ojibwe, Dakota, and Lakota peoples, among others, to mark the ripening of “June-bearing” strawberries that are ready to be gathered.”
Astrology considers the Strawberry Moon one of the most magical moons of the year. This year it will also bring with it a lot of emotions. The website AwarenessAct.com described the reasoning: “Also referred to as the ‘Ruler of Emotions’, the movement of the moon through the zodiac signs and its interaction with the other planets as well as other astrological occurrences can greatly influence what we are feeling, how we view the world around us and how we interact with others.”
Astrologists believe our emotions follow the cycle of the moon. This means that the new moon is a sort of emotional rebirth and those emotions continue to grow as the lunar cycle progresses. The full moon is the peak of emotions leading to the greatest emotional intensity. This is why a full moon is commonly associated with rash and extreme behaviors. You know you’ve heard the full moon as an excuse for something crazy happening. This is the logic behind the phrase “it must be a full moon”
But what makes June’s Strawberry Moon stand out? Awareness Act explains: “The June full moon is going to occur in the sign of Capricorn, a highly careless and irresponsible sign that is also optimistic and loves freedom. We will find ourselves even more aware of the emotions and needs of those around us as Sagittarius encourages us to get in touch with the carefree and whimsical side of our personality. This is a sign that lives its life on the wild side, and with such intense emotions taking hold, don’t be surprised if you find yourself feeling overwhelmed.”
If you feel it affecting you take some time for yourself. Listen to that new album you love or binge-watch a show. Taking it slow can be a good thing! But like anything this feeling will be temporary.
