Meteorologist Couple Gets Engaged In Front Of Tornado
I have lots of bad things to say about my ex-husband but I will say that he proposed in a crafty way. He planned a surprise hot air balloon ride early in the morning and proposed to me while we were in the air. Truth told, the proposal was more memorable than the marriage. HA! In all seriousness, it was a great idea. I have always loved hot air balloons so I thought it was perfect.
A couple, who are both meteorologists, had a movie worthy engagement. Tom Bedard and Raya Maday are both meteorologists at AccuWeather in Wichita, Kansas. The couple met in 2016 and recently became engaged. Their story is awesome!
Over Memorial Day weekend, the couple drove six hours in hopes of seeing a tornado in Colorado. Although there was only a slight chance of one happening, the couple did manage to find one. As the tornado touched down, Bedard got on one knee to propose to Maday. It was their first time seeing a tornado and to add to the thrill, was their engagement.
When Bedard got down on one knee with the engagement ring in hand, Maday recalls that she was thinking, “What a beautiful storm structure” as the tornado dropped to the ground and then she turned and saw her love also on the ground kneeling. “The feeling of seeing your first tornado and being proposed to is unmatched,” she says. “If ‘Twister’ had a sequel, it would go a little like that.”
Luckily the proposal was filmed by friends of the couple. I can’t imagine how exciting it would be to see an epic event by Mother Nature and experience the thrill of a proposal. Awesome!
