Bride Kicks Best Man Out Of Wedding After Insulting Speech
Trying to be funny can be hard at times. I try everyday! LOL! Sometimes jokes just don’t land well and making a joke at someone else’s expenses can backfire. That’s what happened to this guy at his best friend’s wedding.
A best man giving a speech is a tradition at weddings, and usually the best man says something kind and humorous. In a since-deleted post on Reddit, a best man explains that he put a lot of time and effort into writing and memorizing his speech. However, he said he struggled to think of something to say about the bridal party since he didn’t know any of them. His friends suggested he just say something unscripted and either be funny or genuine. The best man tried funny and it didn’t work.
The best man said, “Bridesmaids, I am a bit short of time here and I don’t really know you all so I’d just like to say that five out of six of you look stunning today….figure it out amongst yourselves.” DUDE! Noooooo! Not only did people not laugh, this guy got complete silence. I wasn’t even there and it makes me cringe. I picture Michael Scott from “The Office”.
All of the guests went completely quiet, and to make the situation worse, one of the bridesmaids started crying! Can you imagine being at that wedding? Awkward! The best man tried to apologize but it didn’t help. And that’s when the bride came up and told him, “I think it’s best you leave” and the groom stood behind her nodding. That had to be one of the most uncomfortable moments EVER!
A few days later, the best man sent messages to everyone, apologizing for his speech. He even posted a public apology on the wedding Facebook page, telling everyone how sorry he was, however that resulted in the bride’s grandma telling him off in a message. Told off by grandma! WOW!
My guess is he’s off the invite list for future weddings. Bless.
