Bob Lacey Acknowledges the Women in His Life
Written by: Bob Lacey
I am very thankful this approaching holiday season for the women in my life. They are all such inspirations. Mary is a Doctor of Behavior Health and helps so many people who are struggling during this challenging period. She also has been such a rock for me throughout our last ten years together.
I have always had an uneasy relationship with December, in part because of my tendency for bathing in the questionable warmth of nostalgia, and in part because of having the worst moments of my life occur during deep winter. Her charismatic energy and positive embrace of life keep me from spending too much time re-running my own film noir movies.
My daughter Ally recently graduated with a Masters’s degree in counseling and will be working with women and men struggling with addiction at a great place called Willingway hospital in Statesboro, Georgia, a treatment center for substance abuse disorder. Her husband Tim is an executive at Willingway and they both love the work done there.
My eldest daughter Landon has a Master’s in speech therapy but is focusing on my first two grandchildren. What a great mom she is. Chicago winters are tough but we are going to see them. I’m also very proud of her husband Ramsey who is doing artificial intelligence research in cardiac surgery. At his age, I was interviewing Carrot Top, and that ain’t nothing!
And finally, Sheri has taken our show, re-organized it, saved it from the headwinds of fear, and put us on a path to keep going as long as you, our wonderful friends of so many years still want our foolishness.
I hope everyone in the coming year has a woman in their life who brings love and comfort to them, and that those life-changing, diaper changing, tire changing, attitude changing, health changing, women, get the love and appreciation they need and deserve.
