The World’s First Dog Bed For People Is Here And I Need One
I know I’m not the only one that’s gazed lovingly at my sleeping dog and thought: I wish I could sleep like that! Well, now it can happen. Some university students have designed Plufl, the world’s first dog bed for humans.
If you’re thinking that the Plufl is just an oversized dog bed, you’re technically right. According to its creators, University of British Columbia students Noah Silverman and Yuki Kinoshita, it’s also much more than that. Apparently, the Plufl was engineered “to provide the optimal napping experience”. It will “maximize comfort and foster a sense of security, delivering relief for those who have ADHD, stress, and anxiety-related issues.” That’s most of us!
According to Oddity Central, the Plufl already has lots of fans. Recently launched on the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform, the Plufl has already blown past its funding goal of $25,000. It’s already over $155,000 from hundreds of backers.
The creators came up with the idea while at a coffee shop in Vancouver called Great Dane Coffee. The two became friends with the owners and their Great Dane, Lady. While hanging out at the coffee shop, the two were watching Lady lounging in her custom-made dog bed. They thought people should have this comfort too!
Unlike an actual dog bed, the Plufl is much more comfortable. It has memory foam cushioning and the reinforced edge that allows users to rest their heads on it when they want. There are straps and a bag included with each Plufl, so that it can be easily stored or transported. Although it’s pricey, it costs $400, it looks amazingly comfortable! I think the only issue would be getting my dogs off of it so that I could nap!
You can still pledge to the Kickstarter page but there’s no word on when the Plufl will be for sale. I’m hoping soon! I love a good nap!
