These Are The Emotions People Most Often Feel After Sex
There is no doubt that emotions and sex are intertwined, and whether it be the rush of dopamine that convinces us that we are in love or the embarrassment that follows. Sex has a definite psychological impact that is often overlooked.
New research from sexual wellness brand www.lovehoney.com revealed that while happiness is overall the most commonly felt emotion after sex (53%), it’s not the case for all of us, as this slips to just 39% for those identifying as non-binary. Lovehoney’s survey also found that the feeling of embarrassment is felt by over one in 10 women (11%) after sex.

Certified sex educator, Javay Frye-Nekrasova (MEd) explained the findings in this way:
“Mental health plays a major part in our sex lives. The brain is the biggest sex organ (well, second to the skin, but you know what I mean), so if your mind is racing from depression, anxiety, or just being neurodivergent, it can show up in sexual activity.
“A great example is people who have ADHD have been known to struggle in terms of their sex life because their attention goes so many places during sex or even before that they can’t get into the mood. Mental health also impacts our sex lives because a lot of medications for mental health diagnoses impact sex drive.”
