New Study Says Women Can Sniff Out A Single Man
If your sense of smell is stellar then you may be able to sniff out a single man. According to Science Alert, a recent study discovered that women can actually smell which men are available and which aren’t. Single men are stinkier than those in relationships. And this is science people!
The Australian study took 82 heterosexual women between the ages of 18 and 35 and all were given plain white T-shirts worn by men while they exercised. And here’s where the study gets fun! All of the women smelled the pits of the shirts. Researchers found that single men’s body odor was stronger to all the women.
For the experiment, researchers gave 91 men a plain white T-shirt. All of them had to wear the shirts for one day, while doing moderate exercise in it. They wanted all the men to sweat into the shirt. The sweaty shirts were collected from the 46 single guys and 45 men with partners. All of the women would sniff six different garments while looking at a photo of the man that wore it.
While looking at the men’s pictures, the women were asked to rate the men. They rated them on their attractiveness, sexiness, intelligence, loyalty, kindness, trustworthiness, masculinity and if they looked like a good partner. And it turns out, single men’s body odor smelled stronger to all of the women than the B.O. of the men in relationships.
The researchers think the study may help women find partners who are available. I get that. We’ve all heard about pheromones. There are pheromone perfumes and colognes. Not sure I would have wanted to sniff the pits of sweaty tees though. LOL!
You can read more about the study here. I think someone’s smell can be found attractive, but you may not want to start sniffing folks in public to try and figure out if they’re single.
