TikTok Flu Remedy Is Putting Potatoes On Your Feet
All of us have had grandparents and/or parents that have certain go-to’s. For instance, if I’m sick, my mom will whip up some Matzo Ball Soup and I’ll feel better. I’ve heard putting Vicks Vapor Rub on the bottom of your feet is good for a cold. Now there’s a new remedy that’s going viral on TikTok.
Folks on TikTok say the best flu remedy is putting potatoes in your socks. According to the New York Post, millions of people are watching videos of folks showing the trick on the social media site. And they claim it works!
What you do is cute the potato into slices. Then, place them against the soles of your feet. After the potatoes are set, you put on a pair of socks to hold the potato slices in place overnight. The next morning, the slices are dark brown. People are claiming that the potatoes turn colors because they’re sucking the toxins out of your body. A nutritionist says that’s not the case. They say it’s body heat and exposure to air that causes the browning.
Potatoes DO have lots of starch in them, so I can see them absorbing toxins. Doctors say that this popular trend doesn’t work. I’m not sure if it does or not but I do know the videos on social media are snagging lots of views. ‘Potato sock’ has gone viral on TikTok, with all the videos combined grabbing 8.1 billion views. Wow!
Flu cases are high right now, so many people have tried this and say it works. I wouldn’t use potatoes in place of a doctor, but I’m sure trying it out won’t hurt you.
A few years ago, Jack Daniel told us his grandmother used potatoes to heal things. Once he had a boil or pimple somewhere and his grandmother put a piece of potato on the infected area and wrapped it up. The next day Jack says the thing was gone!
If you have the flu, definitely see your doctor. If you wanna also try the ‘potato sock’ hack, here’s how to do it;
