Preschool Has A Special Rockin’ Surprise For Parents At Graduation
Many years ago, when my now 16-year-old nephew was in preschool, I was invited to his graduation. Back then I thought that a graduation ceremony for 4-year-olds was just stupid. Yes, they’re all cute in their caps and gowns, but a ceremony for learning how to finger paint seemed silly. Now I realize that the ceremony isn’t for the kids as much as it is for all the parents. A preschool in Maryland has a very special surprise for their graduation this year and it’s rockin’!
My friend Amy, who works with educators, sent me this video this morning. It’s the perfect ‘feelgood Friday’ video we all need. Especially since here in the Charlotte area, the weather is gloomy and nasty today.
Mrs. Sue’s Little Sunshine Learning Center in Dundalk, Maryland posted a video of what her youngsters are working on for graduation. In the video, which is now viral on social media, all of the kids are standing on their classroom desks. The kids are strumming ‘air guitars’ and singing the tune ‘Sweet Child o’ Mine’ from Guns N’ Roses. The teachers at this school are obviously brilliant! I’m shocked that all of the kids remember the lyrics to the song.
Not only are the kids singing, but when the guitar solo in the song hits, a few of the kids are killin’ it! They’re making rock faces and strumming their air guitars with seriousness! I LOVE it! And the cutest thing is seeing a few of the kids tapping their feet in time to the music.
As I’m typing this, two other friends on Facebook have sent me the video! LOL! People know me! The only thing missing from the video is blow up or paper guitars for the kids. But, as a rocker, I get the ‘air guitar’. As my friend Pam said, ‘You’re mini-me is in the class!’ And she’s right! Spirit kids!
Kuddos to the teachers at the school! Very cool idea and I’m sure the parents will love graduation! Watch the video here. I promise it’ll make your day!
