Ding, Dong, Ditch Video Message From Teen Boy Is Going Viral For An Amazing Reason
As a kid growing up in the 1970’s and 1980’s, I played the ‘ding, dong, ditch’ game a few times. If you’re unfamiliar with the game, it’s when kids run up, ring your doorbell, and run away. Not sure why, as a kids, we found it funny, but we did. Times are different now and truth told, it’s not a safe thing for kids to do, no matter how harmless it is. The other issue is that almost all homes have Ring doorbell cameras now, so kids can be identified pretty quickly.
A video is going viral of a young man whose friends were playing ‘ding, dong, ditch’ as he was doing something amazing. According to CBS, a young man in Minnesota is going viral for being a bit different from his kids. 13-year-old Jacksen Proell, was walking with his friends a few weeks ago to the local gas station for some snacks. While walking towards the store, his friends were ‘ding dong, ditching.’ He decided to do something nice, although he’d never done it before.
Proell approached the doorbell camera, casually flicked a bug off of its lens, and confidently said:
“You can see me and you matter, alright? There’s always gonna be someone that cares about you. And you’re a good person. No matter what people say, you matter. (Friend hits doorbell, then runs off). Ignore them. They’re losers. They’re ding-dong-ditching you. I’m just trying to say something nice. Like, I don’t know what they’re doing. They’re running away and stuff. I’m just trying to say that you matter man, or girl. Whoever you are you matter to someone. Just keep that in mind. Don’t forget that.”
Once finished, Proell can be seen walking away, joining his friends. The young man wasn’t sure who was hearing his message, he just wanted someone to hear it. And the person that heard it was Ashley Mann. Mann got an alert on her phone while vacationing, and began watching the video. What’s crazy is that Mann just happens to be a mental health guide who helps teens and young adults. What are the odds?
Mann made the decision to pass Proell’s video along and it’s on TikTok where it’s going viral. In 11 hours, the video had over a million views. Now the video has over 10 million views, and counting!
Comments on the video are positive, with one person saying the boy’s message stopped them from committing suicide. Amazing how true kindness and caring can do so much! The video is continuing to grow and tons of people are sharing it. Proell’s mom must be so proud! Kuddos to this young man for caring. You never know who he’ll help.
