Halloween Costumes For Kids That Are Scary But For The Wrong Reasons
The world has changed a lot since I was a kid in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Some of the Halloween costumes that were available then are seen as inappropriate now. Totally understandable. That said, there are some costumes available now that shouldn’t be!
According to TODAY, there are some Halloween costumes available this year for kids that are totally wrong! As a parent, it’s up to you to decide what’s good and bad for your kids, but there are some costumes others might find offensive. Years ago, when I was living in S.C., someone dressed their daughter up as a ‘Hooter’s Girl’. The little girl was around six years old, and honestly, I thought it was a bit much!
Obviously, as a parent, it’s your call as to what your child wears. But here are a few costumes available this year that might be seen as a bit too much:
- Sexy nurse – Dressing up as a nurse is a fantastic choice, but this ‘Teen Sexy Nurse’ costume is not. The words “sexy” and “teen” don’t belong together, but there are plenty of Halloween costumes that use the inappropriate combination, including a sexy ladybug “for any teenage girl looking to turn heads” on Halloween.
- Pot leaf – Believe it or not, there’s a baby ‘Pots for Tots’ marijuana leaf costume. The description calls it “just the right combo of cute and edgy that’s sure to get stares and laughs from everyone.”
- Pimp – We shouldn’t have to say it, but a costume related to prostitution isn’t for kids. This ‘Child Cheetah Pimp Suit Costume’ is one we hope no one wears this spooky season.
Costumes For Kids
Looking at the ‘sexy teen’ costumes, they could be worn and look cute. The problem is the description the company uses. Growing up now is different as kids are experiencing things way earlier than we did. And honestly, that’s not necessarily a good thing! Kids learn things now online and truth told, I think their innocence disappears too soon because of it.
Halloween is all about being something fun, magical, scary, or admired. Kids wearing pimp outfits or dressing as ‘sexy’ anything is over the top. I’m not a prude but with the world the way it is now, kids innocence should be protected. TODAY has a few more costumes on their ‘not’ list, which you can see here. Again, as the parent, you’re in charge, but just because something is available, doesn’t mean it needs to be purchased.
