North Carolina Parade Canceled Just Days Before It Was Scheduled To Step Off
The Raleigh North Carolina Veteran’s Day Parade will not take place this weekend as it was originally scheduled to. ABC 11 in Raleigh reports that the parade was canceled due to a lack of communication about banning vehicles from the parade. The decision was made Tuesday night, the parade was scheduled for this Saturday, November 4th. The decision to ban vehicles comes in the wake of the tragic death of a girl last year at the Raleigh Christmas Parade. The girl who was walking in the parade, was run over by a vehicle. The Raleigh Christmas Parade this year will take place without any motorized vehicles.
A ceremony will still take place on Saturday to honor veterans. But organizers fear the parades participants, many of whom are elderly, will not be able to walk the parade route. Read more from ABC 11 here.
